    What is Farm Photography

Well, agriculture is what I know best in the world. Agriculture is also one of the most misunderstood industries. My generation is far removed from their farming roots, so they don't know or understand or take the time to learn about it.

Dylan + Ariel | Neenah Maternity Session

When my good friends Dylan and Ariel asked me to take their maternity photos, I was so excited! Being able to provide this service for them was such a blessing. For weeks before the shoot, we talked about what kind of photos they wanted, shared some ideas and ultimately had a plan to do a sunrise session at some of their favorite parks in Neenah, Wisc. These two stylish people showed up ready for anything and were glowing with the love of a little baby boy on the way. This is Wisconsin, so we had a little trouble with bitter cold winds so early in the morning, but they persisted.…

Winter is not over. And that’s OK.

As much as we here in Wisconsin are oh-so-OVER winter, especially since it literally was 60 degrees for a week and the grass was growing again. Let’s look at the positives of winter’s quick return. The sun really does exist, it’s not a myth. Winter came back around to being more typical. It is February, not the end of March when snow melt is a little more normal. For those of you who are farmers, you can…

    Almost a photo a day.

What a week! It has been so full, as I’m sure yours has been too. If you have a few minutes, I’d appreciate you just sticking with me for a few more words, and I’ll treat you with photos! As I told you last week, this year I’m really working on learning as much as possible about photography and to get increasingly better at my work through a photo challenge. Along with posting photos that meet the challenge requirements, I also have been working to take photos of different things each and every day. I still miss days, which doesn’t make sense. But you know, I have to take the…

Why you should reach for the camera more often. Seriously.

In case you didn’t know, I love photographing farms. Cows, corn, silage, tractors, bulk tanks, kids playing in the fields, all of it. Being in Wisconsin, what I love to do is really easy.  There is a barn or two down most county lanes, some sprawling crop set between the trees in every county and cows are everywhere. I mean, I’ve been known to stop on the side of the road, throw my car’s flashers on and snap an agricultural scene to share on Instagram or just have because, you know, I need to have that photo. Growing up on a farm has instilled a love of agriculture into my…
